Arcanum
Geography:
Water:
The planet itself is a sphere, 75% of it being covered in land. In the Northernmost portion of Arcanum lies the only lake on all the planet, Yuridyn. Yuridyn takes up approximately 1/5 of Arcanum's surface area, it's depth unknown. From Yuridyn, six rivers sprout from different corners of the lake and travel straight down Arcanum, splitting it's land into six regions. In the Southernmost portion of Arcanum, instead of coming together, the six rivers curve and create a large, spiral pattern. The rivers never merge, they each only seem to stop at a certain point for reasons unknown. The land where this spiral takes place is named Hurikné and the small, circular piece of land in the center of the spiralling rivers is known as Serenice.
Aside from Yuridyn and its six rivers, no other forms of ground water exist anywhere on the planet.
Vegetation:
Trees- Many different trees have many different characteristics, but the one thing that they all have in common is that their leaves are filled with water. How much water they contain depends on the tree, but all leaves have water and all trees have leaves.
Floating Isles:
High above the surface of Arcanum, so high that they are unreachable by any living beings, whether or not they are blessed with the gift of flight, are islands in the sky. It is unknown how many there are, but like clouds, they float slowly across the sky. Each island that has been spotted is a notably different shape than the others.
The Regions:
Renibus- A region covered in a blanket of forest. Meadows and clearings are hard to find, but they do exist. It is easy to get hopelessly lost should one lose their way, especially at night, which is why it is common for Renibian parents to focus most of their young's teachings in tracking and survival.
Small villages can be found in the forests of Renibus. Several different creatures can sometimes be found living together in these villages.
Arcanum's Inhabitants:
From humanoids, to fire-breathers, to water creatures, to rock eaters, Arcanum is a world full of creatures big and small, gentle and fierce. It is said that there are so many beings in this world that it would be foolish to even try and document them all.
Creatures:
Centaurs- Half-horse, half man, Centaurs are revered as being noble and wise. Centaurs have been the leaders of many great armies, and in some tales, the trainers of Human Heroes. Centaurs are quite proud, run very fast, and some can be known to be quite attracted to alcohol.
Dire Wolves- The good force opposing Wargs, Dire Wolves are large wolfish creatures often mistaken for wild dog monsters. In actuality, Dire wolves are quite gentle to those with good hearts and intents, but can smell evil from a mile away. Intellegent, deadly, and haters of evil, Dire Wolves are the guardians of the Forest.
Dragons- Large, deadly, intelligent beasts that often breathe fire, acid, ice, and many other things, Dragons are still quite a mystery to most, communicating with few others but the Dragon Riders. Dragons are fearsome creatures, renowned in battle yet wise beyond human comprehension and often gentle at heart.
Dryads- Tree-spirits. They live in trees. Satyrs chase after them. They are usually meek in characteristics, beautiful creatures, and mostly, but not exclusively, female.
Dwarves- Usually short and stocky, with plentiful face and body hair, dwarves are creatures of the earth, tunnelers or miners, and are often attracted to shiny things such as gems or metals. They are workers of the forge, expert weapon and armour smiths, and are often hailed as The Mountain Folk.
Elves- Elves, the fair folk. Tall, short, plump, slender, elves come in many shapes and sizes but can often be set apart by their distinctly pointed ears. The elves are lovers of beauty, often singing, dancing, writing poetry or blending with nature.
Goblins- Usually small and greenish, goblins have pointed ears like elves, but are much more mischievous in nature, often known for stealing things like gold and silver; goblins are thieves by blood and often untrustworthy. Experts with daggers and throwing knives, goblins are slightly unorthodox fighters, fighting in hordes, overwhelming by sheer numbers. Goblins are also immune to fire and can sometimes even breath it.
Gorgons- Humanoids, usually females, with snakes for hair. Whether or not they actually do have hair depends on the Gorgon. They do in fact have the power to turn others to stone through eye contact, but this is not a power that happens automatically. They have to will it to happen.
Gorgons can not stand environments that are too hot or too cold.
Humans- Highly intelligent mammals with tender skin and barely any hair on their bodies, excluding the head. They walk straight up on their hind legs and have these things called 'fingers' on the ends of their forepaws. They are always seen wearing clothes. These creatures specialize in crafting weapons, armor and traps and building strong shelters. Though they are vulnerable due to the lack of fangs and claws, they are very capable of strong attacks and defenses. Their greatest strength comes from teamwork.
Humans are also capable of adapting to any environment.
Mermaids- Ah, Mermaids. The big confusion. Mermaids are simply put, (and directly translated), Sea-Women. They are woman-like sea creatures, often quite beautiful, until you get close. With razor sharp fangs and vicious claws, Mermaids are quite capable of defending themselves if need be, but they spend most of their time luring unsuspecting sailors to a watery demise.
Naiads- Simialar to Dryads, Naiads are the river and lake spirits. They are often confused with Mermaids, and although similar, are still very different. Naiads live in rivers, streams, ponds, or lakes, and are often seen peacefully weaving baskets under water. They are quite protective of their homes, however, and are known to have quite irritable tempers.
Orcs- Orcs, the cousins of Goblins, are pretty much pure evil by nature. Born of the tainted earth, they fight with large swords or clubs. Orcs are rather ugly, ad often associated with darkness and bad luck.
Satyrs- Similar to Centaurs, Satyrs, or Fauns as some call them, are half goat, half man (Traditionally from the bottom up). Satyrs are lovers of music and nature, somewhat alike to Elves, but are much a part of different Lore. They are skilled in running away from battle, and being Heroes' sidekicks. They also tend to chase after Dryads.
Sprites- Sprites are the only known Faerie Folk to posses wings. They are short, sometimes greenish, and gloatful by nature, proud of their natural flight and even more so of their beauty, they flitter around not only causing the occasional trouble but also seducing those unwary of the Sprites' charmspeak.
Trollocs- Brutal, grotesqe beasts without any specific shape or form, Trollocs are the hybrids gone wrong. Feathered, furred, snouted, and sometimes even goat-legged, these ferocious creatures attack in fists of a hundered or more, hunting in packs and seeking only blood, for the fun of killing. Unlike their distant cousins the Urgals, who kill for glory, or the Orcs who kill for evil, Trollocs kill for sheer enjoyment.
Urgals- Beast-like humanoid creatures, Urgals live in the hills and mountains. They usually have large, ram-like horns on their heads, and talk in a guttural, harsh language. Urgals fear fire and dragons, though in some legends, they are known to be the fourth kind of Dragon Riders.
Unicorn- Large, graceful horse-like or goat-like creatures a long, spiraling horn projecting from the forehead, cloven hooves and a goat's beard in some cases. They usually have white, light gray or tan fur colors, but the shade, and sometimes the color itself, changes with their surrounding environment. (i.e. dark colors at night, dull colors during fog or cold, brown in foliage) They are like the chameleons of mammals that can only be seen if they want to be seen. The only exceptions to this are those who possess innocent minds, such as children. The horn of a unicorn has the power to purify poisoned water and heal the sickness of other creatures.
Wargs- These giant, evil cousins to Wolves are fearsome beasts, fighting with fang and claw, appearing in menacing packs and often large enough to take down a young elephant or Troll alone. Wargs are the arch-enemies of Dire Wolves, and are allies with the Werewolves. Wargs are creatures of the dark night, hunting under the moon; their howling cries can sometimes be heard from miles away.

Characters:
RP'd by Wildwing:
Claira: Dryad-Human Hybrid
- Lanky young woman about 5' 7" and the age of a 15 year old human. She has curly, shoulder length black hair with long, spiked bangs that hang over her emerald green eyes. She has fair skin and slightly pointed ears. She usually wears a blue shirt with long, shredded sleeves over white wrappings, brown pants and brown boots. On a chain necklace she wears around her neck hangs a silver ring, too large for her to wear. She is a Renubian from a small, peaceful, yet nameless, village; her parents' hometown. She claims Aisubi as her sister.
Interesting Fact: Claira loves pranks and practical jokes.
Aisubi: Gorgon
- Aisubi is a short, thin young woman, about 5' 5" in height and her age is equivelent to a 17 year old human. She has light brown, snake-like scales that cover her body except for her arms just above the elbows, her legs, and her face, excluding her cheeks. Her human skin is a lighter brown than her scales. Her wavy, waist-length hair is dark brown and wild. She doesn't have bangs and usually wears her hair down. She currently has five snakes, each the same color as her hair and nearly identical to each other in size and shape. They share the same eye color as Aisubi, which is gold. Her pupils are slits in the center of her irises. Aisubi usually wears a dark green, robe-like jacket with no sleeves over tight black wrappings, light green tights and black boots that go to the middle of her shins. She also has a long white bandage wrapped and tied around her right forearm. She is a Runibian, the claimed sister of Claira.
Interesting fact: Aisubi named her snakes due to unique patterns found on their heads; Clover, Spade, Diamond, Stripes and Spots.

Li'aam: Elf
- Li'aam is an Elf of unknown Elf age, but his maturity is about that of a 17 year-old human. He is 5'10", with shaggy reddish gold hair and bright blue eyes. He is muscular in a fluid way, build for grace and athletic power rather than brute strength. Li'aam is from Renibus, in the same village as Claira and Aisubi. He is almost always found with his companion Mood Dragon, Aardan. Li'aam carries a small dagger in his belt with a bright blue stone set in the hilt. This is what he uses to channel and store what little magic he can handle.
Aardan: Mood Dragon
- Aardan is a male mood dragon, which means he is about the size of a house cat. He usually stays a dark shade of green, although being a mood dragon he can change to any color he wishes, though this somewhat relates to whatever mood he is in. He has sharp claws, a line of small double spikes down his back, and a long, whip-like tail. Aardan is from Renibus, in the same village as Claira and Aisubi, though he goes wherever his companion, Li'aam, goes.
