Ki had appeared near Tyrin as Khiarra and Drathema made their way to their leader. She too looked to Tyrin for a confirmation and to her comrades to see who all was arriving to their King's aide.

Yes! I started typing it, then I decided to help bring Rheija to the main building. After the shade they're fighting is dead, i'll post it!)

I have an idea! How about we all do the sky battle first, then after that's finished we all "jump back in time" and do the ground battle? I can RP most of the shades in the sky for all ya'll Phoenix to finish off. Then you guys can RP animals on the ground battling together against the shades and following Rinka's orders and stuff. How does that sound?)

Tyrin's instincts about the eagle shade were correct. The eagle let out a furious scream and seemingly grew in size as the flames around him burned longer. The King swung one of his swords towards the Shade's neck, but a flash of violet flames extended from the shade's flames like a shield, and Tyrin's blow glanced off like nothing. Tyrin pushed the Shade towards the others as he swung with his wings and swords. Each time a blow would have landed on the eagle it instead was blocked by tendrils of purple fire. As the other Phoenix were still fighting, Tyrin continued to bide his time with a flurry of offensive blows, all of them blocked by the eagle shade.

(Sounds great! There should only be a few shades left, but Tyrin will need a few of his guard to help take down the eagle shade)

Drathema gave the eagle a look of surprise at the sudden explosive growth, but quickly resolved the distraction and lunged towards the shade, though careful as he swung his wing towards it to catch it off-guard, if possible amongst the many dark tendrils flowing about the shade's frame.

With half of the smaller shades gone, it became a little more difficult for the Phoenix to pick them off one by one. But in the next moment, the eight shades split into two groups of four. Group 1 darted straight at Lieuna's head before splitting in two groups of two-group 1A darting passed the right side of her head and group 1B going past the left.

Group 2 had split off in exactly the opposite direction, splitting in half as well. Duo 2A rapidly gained altitude and began circling directly above the King and his opponent while 2B veered to the side, going in a wide circle around the fight.

Ki veered upwards towards the Shades that split away from the group, circling in the opposite direction of the shades and collided head on with them. Her massive talons made quick work of them as their broken bodies spiraled down towards the Earth. She let out a loud war cry as she tucked her wings in a dived towards the remaining Shades.

((And while Khiarra heals people, Ki's special Phoenix power is screaming))

With group 1A down, group 1B's guard and agility went up. The two split apart, both of them dodging Ki's dive, and quickly gained altitude and sped West, further away from Tyrin's fight. They made sure to keep several meters between each other so that Ki wouldn't be able to take them both out in one strike.

Ki opened her wings and stopped in midair, glaring after the Shades. She wasn't going to spend anymore time picking off worthless Shades. Her eyes were on the bigger prize on taking out the larger eagle shade.

With no one replying in time to stop them, 2A, the shade directly overhead, took a sharp dive that last 5 seconds. One of them managed to collide into Tyrin's head, talons first, while the other missed and only glanced the back of his neck.

Tyrin's anger flared as the eagle resisted him, causing his eyes to flash with frustration. In an instant he reared his head back, orange light glowing from the back of his throat. He shot his head forward and opened his beak, a torrent of raging flames exploded from his beak and bathed the eagle in an inferno.

After several seconds of sustained flames, Tyrin ceased the fire to see what had become of the shade, but only wisps of violet fire remained. They scattered like dust in the wind, and the King turned his focus to the next one. At this time, a pair of them had struck him just before he turned. He flipped and rolled one off, bringing one of his swords up and ramming it through the shade's center before looking for the second one.

Drathema rolled to the side with a tuck of his wings at the immense anger he saw come from Tyrin in the form of a raging inferno of fire. He swept low then shot back up towards the second Phoenix that almost managed to score a hit against the king, wings flaring a hot orange in anger as he snatched the shade by his neck and crushed his neck with his talons relentlessly, angrily watching it fall to the ground, knowing it would never make another move against anyone else.

Realizing they were not being followed, duo 1B circled apart and sped back towards the fight. They did not want to deal with Ki on their own, so they attempted to stay out of her sight by gaining altitude and staying behind her. Once they felt they were high enough, they sped ahead and started circling high above their leader.

At the moment of half of 2A's death, 2B struck from behind. One of them managed to cling to the center of Tyrin's back by piercing its talons into his flesh while the other latched on to the rim of his right wing near the shoulder. Both, especially the one on his back, began stabbing and ripping at him with their beaks and talons. (dealing 3 damage each every blow, timed 1.5 seconds apart)

Meanwhile, the other half of 2A, now below Tyrin, swooped back up, pulled away from the fight, and began the climb back up to sufficient altitude.
EDIT: The other half of 2A attempted to do what was striked out, but was then killed by Draethema.


4 shades (excluding eagle leader) remain

Tyrin swept up, just over Drathema's fight as the next group of shades set upon him. He growled as they picked at his back and wings. Knowing his team could better him, he swung so his back was facing Lieuna with a chirp to get her attention. At the same time he wrestled the second shade off of his wing and swung it off of him towards Khiarra.

"Khiarra!"

Khiarra turned towards Tyrin as the Shade was spiraling towards her. "On it!" She readied her staff and cleaved the Shade in two, the halves going on either side of her and plummeted towards the ground.

The shade on Tyrin's back continued its attacks even as its partner was killed. At the same time, the remaining two shades shot down towards Tyrin from above-one a meter in front of the other.

Tyrin swept his swords up in front of him to block any oncoming attacks, bracing for their impact.

Drathema noticed the intended attack against Tyrin by the two shades as they drew close. He dove toward both shades and caught one by his wing while shoving other shade using his left wing in order to stop the it from reaching Tyrin, attempting to crush the smaller shade's wing while throwing the  other to the side.

She was almost a bit irritated that none of the shades seemed to want to engage her, when she saw the frenzied pursuit of the King by the eagle shade. Even as Drathema was moving closer, as if hesitant to help, Lieuna was already closer to the dueling pair. In a flash of dark fire and a burst of orange light, her wing-blades caught the eagle shade in the wing near where it met his body. "I had a feeling you needed assistance, My King!" she shouted as she spun to dodge the Shade's attacks.

The instant Tyrin felt he was free, he knew Drathema had handled the shades above, so he spun around and brought his swords together to help Lieuna and cleaved the shade that had been on his back in two.

Having seen Tyrin's swords, the shades had already began to break from their course. The one being shoved was propelled the way it was already going, and the other shade managed to rip its wing out of Draethema's grip before it could get crushed. That shade then burst right back into Draethema, latching on to the side of his neck. It began attacking the Phoenix the same way the one one Tyrin's back had been.
